My Story
My voiceover journey began in 2014, sparked by a passion for recording that started with music. Armed with a makeshift vocal booth in my basement, I was ready to explore the possibilities. A pivotal moment came when a long-time friend reached out with an opportunity to voice a video game project for her company. I auditioned, landed the role, and recorded hundreds of lines of dialogue, diving into the world of voice acting. Soon after, I lent my voice to on-hold commercials for another associate’s business, further igniting my interest.
Life then took me down a different path, leading me to a career in marketing for several years. Those years sharpened my understanding of communication, audience connection, and the power of clear messaging—skills I now bring back to voiceover. In 2025, I am launching Voice by James Repp to deliver authentic, high-quality performances that make my clients’ projects shine.
The Studio
My studio is built for professional-grade voiceover work, blending passion with precision. At the heart of my setup is the Røde NT-1 microphone, my go-to for capturing every nuance of a performance. Paired with a PreSonus Studio 1824c audio interface and a dbx 286s in the vocal chain, my equipment ensures crisp, clean recordings. For editing and production, I rely on industry-standard DAWs: Adobe Audition for its precision and Logic Pro for its creative flexibility. My recording space is a custom-built, professional-grade vocal booth with a noise floor of -70dB, designed to deliver polished audio free from external interference.
Over the years, I’ve expanded my microphone collection and refined my setup, drawing on my early days of recording music to create a space where quality meets reliability. Every project is recorded in this treated environment, ensuring audio that meets the demands of any production.
